Manufacturing in North America - Commentary and Links

Manufacturing has long been the engine for healthy economic growth and good jobs in North America, but intense global competition, artificially created competitive advantages and the rising cost of doing business in the U.S. threaten our manufacturing base and future living standards. These are the findings of a new study commissioned by the Council of Manufacturing Associations (CMA) and the NAM. The study was written by Joel Popkin ‘Securing America’s Future: The Case for a Strong Manufacturing Base’. The Currency Reform for Fair Trade Act 2009 (CRFTA)

Introduced in both the house and Senate on May 13, 2009, the Currency Reform for Fair Trade Act of 2009 (CRFTA) draws on, refines and streamlines earlier proposals made in the 109th and 110th Congresses. It aims to establish an effective trade law remedy to neutralize currency undervaluation.
