Membership Features & Benefits

MSCI offers three classes of membership that, together, make the institute accessible to almost any company in the metals value chain. There are many reasons to join.

Active Members
Active members operate metals service centers; facilities that inventory metals, provide first-stage fabrication services (cut-to-length, slitting, etc.), and distribute metals to a wide range of manufacturing customers, further processors, or smaller service centers.

Associate Members
Associate members are companies that produce metals:  steel, aluminum, stainless steel, alloys and tool steels. Some associate members convert metal in a finished form such as tubing, perforated metals products, or they create special grades and tempers.

Companies who import metals from non-North American producers are also eligible. These companies, with annual sales to North American service centers exceeding $50,000,000, are eligible if they sell from owned or consigned inventory in North America. They would represent non-North American production facilities engaged in the production of one or more of the metals products upon which Active Member dues are based.

Affiliate Members
Affiliate members are companies that provide goods and services to metals service centers and producing companies. Eligible companies include manufacturers of processing equipment, trucks, racks, buildings, computers, or software. It also includes  companies that provide services such as heat treating, toll processors, software, financial, or other types of consulting services.  Providers of raw materials, recycled materials and other consumables are also eligible.

International members
MSCI also offers Active, Associate, and Affiliate membership to companies that are located outside of the United States, Canada and Mexico.

International Trade Association Members

Associations based outside of North America whose membership is comprised primarily of companies who would be eligible for Active, Associate or Affiliate membership in the Institute if they maintained a physical location or facility in the United States, Canada or Mexico are also eligible for membership.. Member companies of an International Trade Association member (ITA) would be conferred the same meeting attendance and seminar participation benefits of regular North American members.
