Berlin Metals Rejoins ‘Dynamic’ MSCI

HAMMOND, Indiana, September 30, 2003 – Berlin Metals, a steel service center and leading distributor of prime tin mill products and stainless steel strip, has rejoined the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI).

Roy Berlin, president and owner of Berlin Metals, said the company has returned to the trade association because of positive changes to its programs. “I am pleased to come back to an organization that has regained a dynamic sense of purpose and value under the direction of its new president, Bob Weidner,” Berlin said.

Under Weidner’s leadership, MSCI has launched a major program to save North American manufacturing, with MSCI chapters conducting a series of Town Hall Meetings on manufacturing issues from coast-to-coast.  The institute’s education program has been modernized with the introduction of MetalLearn℠ computer-based metals training.  Agendas for all events and conferences are robust and mindful of member time, and the chapter structure has been reinvigorated.

Berlin Metals is a leading supplier of tin mill products and stainless steel strip in slit coil form to the automotive, electronic, hardware and telecommunication industries. Providing just-in-time inventory programs from 18 stocking locations nationwide, Berlinis certified to both the QS 9000 and ISO 9002 quality standards.
