Cato Institute: Canada Ranks Above U.S. In Terms Of Economic Freedom
The Washington, DC-based think tank the Cato Institute released its annual global economic freedom rankings last week. Canada ranked 7th in terms of economic freedom while the U.S. ranked 12th, down from its peak at number two in 2000. Increased regulation and a deterioration in the rule of law were two reasons the Cato Institute cited for the U.S.’s decline. A map of all of the countries ranked in the report can be found here while the full report is accessible here.
