China Drives Up World Steel Production
- According to the World Steel Association, global crude steel production increased eight percent from July 2017 to July 2018. Chinese production (up 7.2 percent year-over-year) was largely responsible for the rise. Production in the European Union jumped 3.9 percent, Japan’s output rose two percent, and South Korea’s production was flat. Output in the United States rose 4.6 percent.
