Chinese Aluminum Exports Surge In May
- According to American Metal Market (AMM, subscription required), Chinese exports of unwrought aluminum and aluminum products increased 29 percent from April 2018 to May 2018 and 37 percent from May 2017 to May 2018. AMM also reported global aluminum production is forecast at 65,724,000 tonnes for 2018, an increase of 3.3 percent from 2017, while consumption is predicted to hit 66,437,000 tonnes, up 4.7 percent from May 2018.
- In Germany, orders for manufacturing goods declined 2.5 percent from March to April for the fourth monthly decline in a row. Orders were down 0.1 percent from April 2017, the first year-over-year decline since 2016.
