Chinese Aluminum, Steel Production Increase
- According to American Metal Market (AMM, subscription required), China’s crude steel production increased 8.9 percent between May 2017 and May 2018 while finished steel production rose 10.8 percent. Production for the first five months of the year on crude products rose 5.4 percent from the same period the year before while production of finished steel products rose 6.2 percent.
- AMM also reported last week that Chinese electrolytic aluminum production increased 1.5 percent from May 2017 to May 2018. Production for the first five months of 2018 was up 1.4 percent over the same period the year before.
