Commerce Department Changes Deadline For Submitting Section 232 Aluminum Testimony

In a notice published last week in the Federal Register, the U.S. Commerce Department announced that written testimony in the department’s Section 232 aluminum investigation is now due Friday, June 23. (The previously announced deadline was June 29.)

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said, “Moving the deadline for all written submissions to June 23, 2017, will enable the Commerce Department to more expeditiously finalize the report, taking account of the time-sensitive nature of the national security implications related to this section 232 investigation of aluminum and of the president's direction to move quickly on this important matter.” President Donald Trump pledged on social media last week to take “major action” if the steel and aluminum Section 232 investigations find it necessary.
