Europe’s Trade Committee Endorses T-TIP
The European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade passed a resolution last week endorsing the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) trade agreement between the United States and the European Union. The vote was 28 to 13.
Bernd Lange, chairman of the trade committee, said, “We have pushed very hard for this resolution to come to life, to send the strong message that the European Parliament will not simply accept any deal they are presented with. On the contrary, we have clear cut demands and red lines when it comes to the content of the agreement.”
Politico said the vote was “closely watched as a bellwether of whether the EU will eventually sign up to the transatlantic deal.”
