Distributors are complex machines with many different ways to be competitive in the marketplace. The distributor needs to consider growth processes that are driven by organic versus acquisition models, operational excellence, sales force and digital sales models, and a myriad of value added services. Proper solution design, value proposition development, and operational excellence in execution involve many investment decisions for resources ranging from working capital to people. Distributors can consider their capabilities as the tools to capture their strategic goals. How much to invest in different forms of capital (process, human, information, organizational, and financial) is like pulling different levers on the business with outcomes that can be measured through our financial reports.

This course explores how different growth strategies, investment decisions, and capabilities impact the financial levers. Real case examples will be used from research conducted in the Global Supply Chain Laboratory at Texas A&M University to demonstrate how leading distributors have achieved breakthrough results by moving the right financial levers in the right configuration.
