Shmuel Cohen returns to share his perspective on the uptick of COVID-19 and how to keep employees safe and doors open for business during and after the holiday season. As Director of Environmental Health and Safety for Steel Warehouse and member of the NYC COVID-19 Task Force, Shmuel has a unique background that speaks directly to MSCI member companies. Join us as he discusses the following topics:

Meet the Instructor
Shmuel Cohen is currently the Director of Environmental Health and Safety for Steel Warehouse, and holds a Master’s of Science in Occupational Health and Safety. Shmuel’s primary responsibilities and focus include safety, Environmental Compliance, risk/exposure management and Worker’s Compensation management. During his over 15 years associated with Steel Warehouse, he has served in various capacities within the company, primarily focused on either Human Resources, Personal Development and EHS, designing programs to promote and motivate employee safety awareness while reducing OSHA recordables and Worker’s Compensation foot print. Shmuel has worked to shift employee mindset from a “Have to” safety mentality to a “Want to” safety focus.

Shmuel has served in leadership positions on various councils and is a charter member of the MSCI Safety Council. He is an experienced instructor and speaker on behavior modification and safety development. For the Last 28 years, he has been a senior EMT & member of Hatzalah Volunteer Ambulance Corp of New York City, the largest Volunteer ambulance company in the world, with a call volume greater than 911 of Chicago. In this capacity, Shmuel was a “first responder” to ground zero on the 9/11 attack on the United States of America. Most recently Shmuel has served as part of the NYC Covid Response Team, addressing hundreds of Covid Positive Patients. Mr. Cohen is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a double major in Business Administration and Biology. He achieved his Masters and Post Masters while studying in NYC at MTJ-YSI. While in NYC, Mr. Cohen, met and married his wife of 26 years.
