The first mill of the Nucor Plate Mill Group, Hertford County started up in 2000. Situated on 1000-acres along the Chowan River in Cofield, NC, this greenfield site has approximately 500 team members. Hertford County produces carbon and alloy discrete plate for a range of industries.
Training and Tour Information
The training session will be held at Nucor Hertford on Tuesday, May 7th. Participants will receive an introduction to the steel making process from start to finish along with general metallurgy for the non-metallurgist. The training session will be followed by a tour of the mill starting in the melt shop and following the process through completion.
Hotel and Transportation Information
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hilton Garden Inn Riverfront – Suffolk, VA, at the rate of $99.00 per night plus tax. Reserve your room by April 6th and mention Nucor Steel School to receive the discounted rate. MSCI will provide bus transportation from the hotel to Nucor Hertford and back to the hotel on May 7th.

Seminar Attire & Safety Information
Attire for the training session and dinner is business casual. Visiting the mill requires pants or jeans, closed toe/ hard sole shoes (no high heels). All other PPE will be provided by Nucor.
Meals
Nucor will host Dinner on Monday, May 6th and Lunch on Tuesday, May 7th. Please let us know if you will not be attending some or all the meals.
Who Should Attend
This seminar is particularly relevant to service center employees involved in purchasing and sales. It is especially beneficial for those with less than five years of industry experience and/or those new to flat rolled products. Please note that participation in this program is limited to MSCI service center members only.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received in writing by MSCI on or before April 15, 2019, will receive a full refund. No shows and cancellations received after that time will not be eligible for refunds.
