Julia Morales just wrapped up her seventh season as a member of the Houston Astros broadcast team on AT&T SportsNet Southwest. You can also catch her hosting Astros and Rockets pre and postgame shows. Recently, she won an Emmy for her work on the weekly show Astros Bases Loaded and created a fan-favorite segment where she takes the Astros manager AJ Hinch away from the ballpark in Covering All the Bases. While in Houston, Julia has made an impact on Astros fans, women in sports and future sportscasters. She recently received a Woman of Inspiration award by the Houston chapter of WISE, Women in Sports and Events.

When it comes to giving back to the community, Julia is extremely passionate about animals and serves on the Board of Directors for Houston Pets Alive!, a no-kill animal rescue. She and her husband, Matt, foster dogs in the MLB offseason. She also spends time speaking to journalism students at the high school and collegiate level in the Houston area, as well as doing motivational and keynote speaking.

Before moving to Houston, she worked as a sports reporter for Time Warner Cable News, formerly YNN in Austin, covering a wide range of sporting events including the Super Bowl, NBA Finals, World Series, and College Baseball World Series. Prior to joining the Time Warner Cable sports crew, Julia was the weekend sports anchor/reporter for KYTX-TV in Tyler, Texas. While in Tyler, she traveled to Arlington to cover her beloved Dallas Cowboys and reported live from high school football games. Julia began her television career at KTEN-TV in Denison, Texas.

A native of Crandall, Texas, Morales spent two years as a “World Famous Kilgore College Rangerette” before graduating from the University of Texas at Austin.  While at UT, Julia acquired her degree in broadcast journalism and was a member of Texas Pom during the Longhorns’ 2005 National Championship season.
