  • In a reading that was slightly worse than analysts expected, the German government announced industrial production in the country was flat in May. Manufacturing production rose 0.4 percent while energy (-3.1 percent) and construction (-0.5 percent) output each contracted.
  • In another sign that the Chinese economy continues to struggle, the nation’s government announced last week that sales of passenger vehicles fell 3.2 percent between June 2014 and June 2015.
