Global Economic Analysis and News of Note: Chinese Crude Steel Output Continues To Rise

  • As reported by American Metal Market (subscription required), the National Bureau of Statistics in China announced last week that the country’s China’s crude steel output rose to a new high in June. AMM noted that Chinese mills produced 73.23 million tonnes of crude steel last month, up 5.7 percent from June 2016 and 1.3 percent from May 2017. The country’s daily crude steel output also rose to an all-time high of 2.44 million tonnes per day. Crude steel production for the first six months of 2017 was up 4.6 percent from the same period in 2016.
