Global Economic Analysis: German, French Industrial Production Disappoints
- In a reading that was far worse than analysts had predicted, the German government announced last week that industrial production in the country fell 1.3 percent in March. Industrial production also fell in France in March, dropping 0.3 percent. Manufacturing output was down 0.9 percent in France and 1.2 percent in Germany. Those two countries were not the only trouble spots in Europe: industrial production also declined 0.3 percent in Italy and 2.4 percent in the Netherlands in March.
