Global Economic Analysis: Japanese Economy On Longest Growth Streak Since 1980s

  • The Japanese economy grew 0.1 percent in the fourth quarter of 2017. While it was the eighth straight quarter of growth for the country—the longest period of expansion in Japan since the 1980’s—the reading was below the third quarter’s growth rate of 0.6 percent and lower than analysts had predicted. Japan’s economy expanded 1.6 percent during all of 2017, an increased from 2016’s 0.9 percent rate.
