IMF Expects Growth To Pick Up Around The Globe

  • According to American Metal Market (subscription required), finished steel exports from China fell more than 21 percent from August 2017 to September 2017 and nearly 42 percent between September 2016 and September 2017.
  • American Metal Market also reported last week that Chinese exports of unwrought aluminum and aluminum products fell 9.8 percent between August 2017 and September 2017 and were off 5.1 percent year-over-year. Exports for the first nine months of 2017 were up 4.3 percent from the same period in 2016.
  •  The value of total exports from China rose 8.1 percent from September 2016 to September 2017 while the value of imports increased 18.7 percent. The nation’s trade surplus was $28.47 billion last month.
  • Industrial orders in Germany increased 3.6 percent from July to August, the government said last week. Orders from customers within Germany rose 2.7 percent while overseas orders jumped 4.3 percent.
