Metals Service Center Institute Applauds Senate Panel Approval of Lighthizer Nomination

Calls for Speedy Confirmation

Rolling Meadows, Ill., April 25, 2017—M. Robert Weidner, III, president and CEO of the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI), issued the following statement on the U.S. Senate’s Finance Committee vote to confirm Robert Lighthizer to be U.S. Trade Representative:

“Mr. Lighthizer is eminently qualified for this post and we are pleased that the U.S. Senate Finance Committee has voted to confirm him.  At a time when trade enforcement reform is front and center for the industrial metals supply chain, it is critical we have such an experienced and knowledgeable U.S. trade policy leader in place. We encourage the full Senate to move quickly so he can get to work.”
