Metals Service Center Institute Membership Grows as Twelve Companies Join so Far in 2003

CHICAGO, Illinois, February 18, 2003 – Directors of the Metals Service Center Institute have approved new membership applications from 12 companies, including five active service center members, two international active members, an associate member and three affiliate members.

“We are delighted to welcome these outstanding companies to membership in MSCI,” said Bob Weidner, the trade association’s president and chief executive officer.  “We exist to serve the networking, education, advocacy and research needs of the metals industry, and we have worked very hard in the last year to improve our value proposition.  Membership growth during difficult economic times is a sign of strength for the industry and for MSCI.”

New active members include Titanium Metals Corporation of Denver, Colorado; Dura-Bar Metal Services of Woodstock, Illinois; Bohler-Uddeholm North America of Rolling Meadows, IL; Metal Sales CEM Supply of Harvey, Louisiana, and Gulf & Northern Trading Corporation of Voorhees, New Jersey.  New international active members include FORTACERO, S.A. de C.V of Monterrey, Mexico, and Stalepromyshlennaya Kompaniya of Ekaterinburg, Russia.

Joining MSCI as an associate member is Scot Forge of Spring Grove, Illinois.  New affiliate members include RMG Executive Search Group of North Barrington, Illinois; Kasto-Racine, Inc. of Export, Pennsylvania, and Red Bud Industries of Red Bud, Illinois.  Prolamsa, S.A. de C.V. of Monterrey, Mexicojoins MSCI as an international associate member.

Founded in 1907, the Metals Service Center Institute has more than 400 members operating from about 1,000 locations in the U.S. and Canada. Together, MSCI members constitute the largest single bloc of metals purchasers in North America, with about 300,000 manufacturers and fabricators as customers.Metals service centers distribute metals and provide first-stage fabrication services.
