MSCI Supports Bill To Address Skills Gap

The Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI) has agreed to co-sign a letter with the National Association of Manufacturers and the Perkins Career and Technical Education Coalition supporting and urging passage of H.R. 5587, the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act.

H.R. 5587 is a bipartisan piece of legislation that will help U.S. students acquire the skills they need to be successful in today’s work environment. MSCI believes Congress needs to know that employers across the country are reporting moderate to serious shortages of qualified applicants for skilled and highly skilled positions. It also believes H.R. 5587 will help ensure a quality employee pipeline for employers and access to in demand and high paying jobs for America’s workforce.

The letter will be sent to members of Congress when they return from their summer recess in early September.
