Obama Administration Will Appeal District Court Overtime Ruling
Last week, Connecting the Dots reported that a U.S. district court judge had voted to temporarily halt implementation of the U.S. Department of Labor’s new regulation governing overtime compensation. (Click here to see last week’s story.) The Obama administration has chosen to appeal that ruling.
Democrats in Congress also held a press conference last week to support implementation of the rule and urge the incoming Trump administration to fight for it.
As Connecting the Dots noted last week, President-elect Trump at least has said the rule should not apply to small businesses. The overtime regulation was set to take effect on Thursday, December 1. The Metals Service Center will continue to fight implementation of this costly rule and will update its members on developments about it through Connecting the Dots.
