Stainless Steel Production and Metallurgy


After completing this lesson, you should recognize basic properties of this type of metal and common types of processing. You should be familiar with much of the special terminology used with these products and you should be able to answer basic customer questions concerning these products. The course consists of a pretest, the presentation and a post test. Once you complete the pretest, you will have access to the presentation.



This course teaches the different stainless steel families of alloys, how alloying elements are used to modify stainless steel alloys, the different stainless steel product forms and how they are produced,  strength and hardness testing, how stainless steel strength is modified, and the effects of alloying elements on stainless steel corrosion resistance.
