Progress On NLRB Nominations And Regulatory Rollbacks

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump announced his intention to nominate William Emanuel to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). The Coalition for a Democratic Workplace (CDW), of which MSCI is a member, issued a statement praising the nomination. The CDW said, “Emanuel’s exceptional background will be a valuable contribution the NLRB and will provide tremendous leadership in this policy area.” Emanuel is a shareholder and attorney at the law firm Littler. He specializes in collective bargaining negotiations; labor arbitration; union election campaigns; strikes, picket lines and boycotts; corporate campaigns by labor unions; labor injunctions; and persuader reporting requirements.

The CDW also will be lobbying the U.S. Senate to quickly confirm both Emanuel and Marvin Kaplan, whom President Trump nominated to the NLRB on June 21. (Click here for more from Connecting the Dots on the Kaplan nomination.)

In related news: the U.S. House Education and Workforce Committee last week passed legislation that would end the NLRB’s “ambush election” rule. It is not yet clear when the full House will vote on the bill. Click here to learn more about the “ambush election” regulation.
