Service Center Shipments of Steel Improved in the United States and Steel and Aluminum Shipments Improved in Canada
U.S. Service Center Activity
U.S. service centers shipments of steel products in April 2013 increased 2.1% from April 2012. Steel product inventories at the end of April 2013 decreased 2.1% from last month.
Aluminum shipments by U.S. service centers decreased 1.2% from the same month in 2012. Inventories of aluminum products at the end of April 2013 increased 1.3% from last month.
Canadian Service Center Activity
Canadian service center steel shipments increased by 0.8% from April 2012. Steel product inventories decreased 4.5% from April a year ago. The inventory to shipments ratio decreased 5.3% from a year ago.
Aluminum shipments in April increased 5.4% compared with the same month in 2012. Inventories of aluminum products increased by 5.1% compared with April a year ago.
