Social Media Advocacy

Social media is an increasingly important tool for engaging with local, state, and federal policymakers. More than three-quarters of staff members on Capitol Hill say they glean information about public policy issues from organizations’ websites and blogs. Nearly half say social media posts inform their positions and an impressive 87 percent say multiple constituents engaging on social media regarding a specific issue or cause can help influence a lawmakers’ position on an issue.

Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn aren’t the only ways to make your voice heard, but they are important tools. The presentation linked to below outlines what works best, and how you can get the attention of your local, state, and federal officials.

And, don’t forget: follow MSCI on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, and check out our advocacy page to see where the organization stands on the important public policy matters facing the country.
