Think The Skills Gap Won’t Affect You? Think Again

According to a report released last week by the Manufacturing Institute and Deloitte, over the next ten years approximately two million manufacturing jobs will stay vacant because employers will not be able to find workers with the right skills to fill them. According to a survey of 450 manufacturing executives by the two organizations, about 60 percent of jobs are currently unfilled because of the skills gap.

MSCI understands North American manufacturers need a skilled workforce to compete in the global manufacturing and metals marketplace. That’s why we will continue to press our leaders in Washington to invest in a competitive workforce so North America can continue as the world’s largest manufacturing economy and globally attract the most motivated and innovative workers, investors and entrepreneurs.

MSCI will release an updated Policy Agenda this year that will outline additional ideas and principles for addressing the skills gap. Stay tuned!
