Tomorrow Is The Deadline To Comment On EPA Ozone Regulations – Act Now!

The comment period for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposed ozone regulations closes on Tuesday, March 17 – tomorrow! – and MSCI urges all of its members to comment on the rule.

As the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) has reported, this rule will be the most expensive in U.S. history and will impose harmful impacts on manufacturers in every state by putting new burdens on the commercial and industrial activity that is vital to creating jobs and growing the economy. According to a NAM study, the rule would:

  • Reduce U.S. gross domestic product by $140 billion per year and $1.7 trillion from 2017 to 2040;
  • Result in 1.4 million fewer job equivalents per year on average through 2040; and
  • Cost the average U.S. household $830 per year in the form of lost consumption.

MSCI members should visit NAM’s website and the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council’s (SBEC) website to learn more about the rule and the costs it will impose on American manufacturers. According to SBEC, nearly 76 percent of U.S. manufacturers have 20 or fewer employees and these firms would be among the hardest hit by the rule.
