U.S. Commerce Department Investigating Imports Of Heavy-Walled Rectangular Carbon Steel Pipes

According to Politico’s “Morning Trade,” the U.S. Commerce Department has launched an investigation into whether U.S. manufacturers of heavy-walled rectangular carbon steel pipes are adversely affected by imports from Mexico, South Korea and Turkey manufacturers. Politico said, “Korean and Mexican producers will face an anti-dumping investigation, while Turkish producers will undergo both anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations.”

The newspaper also reported that, if the U.S. International Trade Commission rules that U.S. producers have been harmed by imports from these countries, the Commerce Department “will announce preliminary dumping duties on Dec. 28 and a preliminary subsidy rate for Turkey on Oct. 14.” The ITC will issue its determination on Sept. 4.
