What Is The USA Workforce Tax Credit Act, And Why Does MSCI Support It?

The Metals Service Center Institute recently joined the USA Workforce Coalition, which was founded to advocate for policies that will close the nation’s skills gap and ensure every American worker is better prepared to harness their full potential.

One of the coalition’s top priorities is to pass H.R. 5153, the USA Workforce Tax Credit Act, which would encourage individuals and corporations to make donations to nonprofits that provide apprenticeship training and workforce preparation skills for adults. The tax credit also would support a much-needed expansion of scholarships that focus on K-12 students to ensure our young people are preparing to become the American workforce of the future. The coalition supports this legislation because the country currently faces a growing worker shortage. More than six million U.S. jobs are currently unfilled.

H.R. 5153 is sponsored by Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-Penn) and was introduced in March 2018. Other members of the USA Workforce Coalition include the Women’s Advocacy Institute of America, the Hispanic Leadership Fund, and the Kansas Chamber Of  Commerce.
