Broad-Based Declines Continue Across U.S. and Canadian Metals Shipments
ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill
MSCI Metals Activity for June 2025 shows ongoing softness in metals shipments across North American service centers. In the United States, steel shipments dropped 5.0% and aluminum shipments fell 4.2% compared to June 2024, both seasonally adjusted. Canada also experienced notable declines, with steel shipments down 7.4% and aluminum down 10.6%. These results mark another consecutive month of subdued demand and persistent inventory pressures throughout the supply chain.
U.S. Service Center Activity
U.S. service center steel shipments in June 2025 were -5.0% (seasonally adjusted) from June 2024. Shipments of aluminum products were -4.2% (seasonally adjusted) from the same month in 2024.
Canadian Service Center Activity
Canadian service center steel shipments in June 2025 were -7.4% (seasonally adjusted) from June 2024. Shipments of aluminum products were -10.6% (seasonally adjusted) from the same month in 2024.
