Texas Chapter Awards Seven Scholarships in 2020

The Texas Chapter is pleased to announce the 2020 recipients of the Rene Morrison Memorial Scholarships.  Seven students whose parents work for MSCI member companies each received a $3,000 scholarship to further their education.

Kaitlyn Baker is a student at Texas A&M University.  Her mother, Shauna Baker, works for CMC Steel Texas in Seguin.

Jake Bons is the son of Beverlea Bons of Delta Steel in Cedar Hill.  He is also studying at Texas A&M University.

Courtney Hendley will be attending Tarleton University in the Texas A&M system.  Her father, John Hendley, is with Ryerson in Houston.

Chanse Hernandez is another Aggie who is attending Texas A&M University in the fall.  His father, Peter Hernandez III, works at CMC Steel Texas in Seguin.

Nina Hunt, the daughter of John Hunt from Metalwest in Garland, will be attending the University of Texas at Austin this fall.

Cameron Johnson is a student at Texas Tech University.  He is the son of Scott Johnson of Commercial Metals Company in Irving.

Harrison Schroeder is continuing his studies at the University of Texas at Austin.  His father, Greg Schroeder, is with Samuel, Son & Co., Inc. in Houston.

Congratulations to these seven young adults, who all remained diligent and focused on their education during challenging times!

The Texas Chapter thanks our member companies, who remained committed to rewarding these deserving students, despite business uncertainties.  Without their generosity, we would not have been able to keep our award level at seven scholarships.

Applications for the 2021 Rene Morrison Memorial Scholarships will be accepted after January 1, 2021.  The deadline for applications is April 1, 2021.  See the MSCI Chapter Scholarship website for further information.
