Chinese Steel Production Looks To Be On Upward Trajectory

 

  • As FastMarketsAMM (subscription required) reported, China’s crude steel, hot metal, and finished steel output rose to new highs in August. Crude steel output rose 8.4 percent from August 2019 to August 2020 while hot metal production increased five percent and finished steel output rose 11.3 percent. For the first eight months of 2020, crude steel production was up 3.7 percent from the same period in 2019, hot metal production rose 3.4 percent, and finished steel production jumped 4.8 percent.
  • Fastmarkets AMM also reported that, for the first 10 days of September, crude steel production in China fell 1.09 percent, finished steel production was down 8.86 percent, and hot metal output declined 1.55 percent.
