The Eaton Steel Bar Company operates as one of the largest suppliers of Special Bar Quality (SBQ) steels in the country, unique in the fact that Eaton is a cold drawn bar mill and a hot roll mill depot. Eaton offers the widest inventories of these products, with over 80,000 tons of inventory in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, grades, and finishes. The Eaton Steel Bar Company and its affiliates have four primary facilities located in southeast Michigan and depots in several other states.
The Eaton Steel Bar Company is more than just a steel bar company. With over 300 team members working together at Eaton Steel, they ensure that customers are given the most efficient and cost-effective solution to any supply chain problem.
Who Should Attend
This event is particularly relevant to service center employees involved in purchasing and sales. It is especially beneficial for those new to bar products or who have not yet visited a mill to see how cold drawn bars and quench and temper bars are processed. Please note that participation in this program is limited to MSCI service center members only.

Training and Tour Information
The training session will be held at Eaton Steel’s corporate site in Oak Park, Michigan, on September 14. Participants will receive an introduction to Special Bar Quality (SBQ) steels along with an understanding of terminology and applications of hot rolled and cold finished bar. The mill tours will take place on September 14 as well, and participants will visit the cold drawn bar mill (Hercules Drawn Steel) in Livonia, Michigan, the quench and temper heat treat operation (Apollo Heat Treat) in Oak Park, Michigan, and finish at the A2LA and ISO 17025:2017 testing facility (Titan Metallurgy), where they perform testing and provide metallurgical support to customers.

Attire & Safety Information
Attire for this event is casual. Visiting the mill requires closed-toed shoes (no tennis shoes) as well as hard hats and eye protection, which will be provided by Eaton Steel.
Meals
Eaton Steel Bar Company will host a reception and dinner at Dick O’Dows on September 13th and provide lunch on September 14th. Please let us know if you will not be attending one or both of the meals.

Fee and Cancellation Policy
The cost of the Bar Products Training and Mill Tour is $500 per person. Participation is limited, so please register early. Cancellations made by August 15, 2022, will receive a full refund of fees paid. No shows and cancellations received after August 15, 2022, will not be eligible for refunds. Substitutions may be made at any time.
