Outgoing Chair’s Remarks

Incoming Chair’s Remarks

Richard Marabito, Chief Executive Officer of Olympic Steel is the incoming MSCI Board Chair. Rick will share his perspectives on the industry and MSCI in 2021 and beyond.

State of the Institute

Robert Weidner, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Metals Service Center Institute will present the State of the Institute.

Jack Malec Chapter Leadership Award Recipient 2021

The Jack Malec Chapter Leadership Award was named for a Chicago member who worked passionately to promote the MSCI Chapters and to involve new generations. In his honor we recognize, acknowledge and applaud the tireless efforts of our volunteer chapter leaders. It is their dedication, knowledge, time and leadership that make our chapters, and ultimately our entire organization, strong. John Walmsley, Sales Manager of Mazzella FHS, has distinguished himself with almost twenty years as a committed volunteer leader within both the Florida Chapter as President from 2005-2008 and as a current Director on the South Atlantic Chapter Board of Directors.

2021 MSCI Lifetime Achievement
Award Recipients

We will also be honoring two prominent industry executives this year with MSCI Lifetime Achievement awards – the Institute’s highest honor.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was established in 2003 to recognize individuals who, in their long careers, exemplify the very best that our industry has to offer in business leadership, integrity, and community service.

The symbol of this award is the Roman god Janus. Janus is the god of beginnings and of change, and for us, he symbolizes the achievements of the past as the foundation of our vision and hopes for the future. Janus also symbolizes the transition of one generation to another. This year we will recognize the achievements of two outstanding individuals

Maurice S. “Sandy” Nelson, Jr., former Chief Executive Officer, PNA Group; Chief Executive Officer, Earle M. Jorgensen; President & Chief Executive Officer, Inland Steel Company and President of the Aerospace and Commercial Division of the Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa).
