Global Economic And Trade News: China Exports Robust

 

  • China’s steel exports during the first two months of 2021 rose by 29.8 percent from the same period in 2020. Imports were up by 17.2 percent from a year earlier. Click here to read more.
  • The Chinese government announced last week that its exports surged by 60.6 percent in the first two months of 2021 compared to the same period a year earlier as damage from the coronavirus pandemic faded. China’s exports expanded to $468.9 billion, nearly twice the growth forecasters had expected. Exports to the United States rose 87.3 percent while imports increased 22.2 percent.   • According to BBC News, goods exports from the United Kingdom (UK) to the European Union fell 40.7 percent in January while imports fell 28.8 percent. These declines were the largest since records began in 1997. Other data released last week showed the UK economy shrank by 2.9 percent in January. Click here to read more.
