Global Economic News: World Steel Production Rises On Output From China
- According to Fastmarkets AMM(subscription required), global steel production increased 6.4 percent from April 2018 to April 2019. The increase was driven by a 12.7 percent rise in output in China. Production in the United States increased 7.3 percent, but it fell 4.2 percent in the European Union. Output also rose in India (1.5 percent) but fell in Japan (0.8 percent).
