Global Trade And Economic News: European Countries Extend Steel Protections

Here is the latest trade and economic information from Canada and abroad:

  • The British government has indicated that it will introduce new regulations to help defend its domestic steel industry, The news comes after its Trade Remedies Authority recommended keeping quotas and tariffs in place for 14 categories of steel for three years and removing them for five other categories. Imports that fall outside of the quotas will face a tariff rate of 25 percent. As MetalMiner reports, the European Union also has formally extended steel protections.
