Update On Efforts To Ensure Operation Of Critical Infrastructure In Mexico

While the Mexican government has resisted many U.S. and Canadian efforts to reopen critical industries, at a May 5 press conference, President Manuel López Obrador indicated that the construction, mining, and automotive sectors, as they relate to the U.S. and Canadian markets, could be re-started on May 17.

The Mexican government also has established a system by which U.S. and Canadian companies can raise essential business questions. Specifically, businesses can contact Mexico’s Ministry of Economy at economia@economia.gob.mx. The Ministry of Economy has also prepared this form with suggested information companies can include when submitting information to the inbox referenced above. Submission of the form is not mandatory.

As Connecting the Dots reported previously, the Metals Service Center Institute joined with more than 300 other groups in a letter that asked the Mexican government align its policies with U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) critical industry guidance.
