USTR Issues Information To Extend Some Tariff Exemptions For Chinese Products

The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announced last week that it has opened a new application process to extend exclusions for companies whose imports were included on the $34 billion China tariff list announced in July 2018 and who were awarded exemptions last winter. The current exclusions, which are awarded annually, will expire on December 28.

The USTR will consider each extension on a case-by-case basis and will examine whether the imported product is still only available from China or whether substitutions are available. The USTR will accept extension applications from November 1-30, 2019.
