Global News Of Note: Canada Takes Action Against Steel Strapping Imports

What happens abroad impacts MSCI members in North America. Here is the latest economic, trade, and other policy news of note for the last week:

  • On Sept. 16, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) issued its preliminary determinations of dumping of steel strapping originating in or exported from China, South Korea, Turkey, and Vietnam, and subsidizing on these products from China. Provisional duties, including anti-dumping (AD) and countervailing duties (CVD), are now in effect for goods that were released from the CBSA on or after Sept. 16. The duty rate is 9.2 percent-48.8 percent for China, 2.3 percent-33.4 percent for South Korea, 42.3 percent for Turkey, and 3.5 percent-40.4 percent for Vietnam. Read more at this link.
