Metal Shipments Slide in US and Canada
ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill
MSCI Metals Activity for the month of November 2024 indicates steel and aluminum shipments in the US are down sharply compared to the same period in 2023. The fall in Canadian service center activity persisted with double-digit year-over-year decreases in steel and aluminum.
U.S. Service Center Activity
U.S. service center steel shipments in November 2024 were down 7.7% from November 2023. Shipments of aluminum products decreased by 15.1% from the same month in 2023.
Canadian Service Center Activity
Canadian service center steel shipments in November 2024 decreased by 17.3% from November 2023. Shipments of aluminum products decreased by 20.8% from the same month in 2023.
