MSCI, Trade Groups Ask Biden Administration To Review Federal Regulations
The Metals Service Center Institute has joined the National Association of Manufacturers’ (NAM) Manufacturers for Sensible Regulations coalition, which has asked President Joe Biden to designate a senior-level adviser to coordinate efforts within the White House to ensure that federal regulators are implementing policies that align with the president’s promise to promote growth in the U.S. manufacturing industry.
In a letter to White House officials, the coalition argued, “[T]he onslaught of new regulations … is chilling manufacturing investment, curtailing manufacturers’ ability to hire new workers and suppressing wage growth, especially for the small and medium-sized manufacturers that are the backbone of the supply chain.”
NAM also has found:
- 94 percent of manufacturers say increased regulatory burdens make it difficult to create jobs, invest in new equipment, and expand facilities;
- 93 new regulations written by 30 federal agencies or offices are actively stifling growth and job creation; and
- 68 percent of voters agree small manufacturers bear an unfair burden when faced with excessive regulations.
Individual companies, executives, and employees can join the NAM and MSCI’s efforts. Click here to send a letter to your member of Congress asking them to tell the president he needs someone in the White House looking out for the metals and broader manufacturing industry.
