MSCI’s Chapter Scholarship Program: Creating Opportunities For Future Generations

For more than two decades, MSCI chapters have done more than support the metals industry. They have invested in the futures of the families behind it.

Every scholarship awarded represents opportunity. Opportunity for a student to pursue postsecondary education. Opportunity for a family to ease the financial burden of tuition. Opportunity for the next generation to chase careers, dreams, and lifelong goals with greater confidence.

That impact is only possible because of the incredible generosity and engagement of MSCI members. From golf outings and fundraising events to sponsorships and donations, MSCI chapters come together year after year to support the children of employees working throughout the industrial metals industry and the results are remarkable.

Since the program’s inception, MSCI chapters have awarded more than 6,000 scholarships totaling over $13 million. In 2026 alone, more than 1,000 students applied for scholarship assistance through the program — a powerful reflection of both the need and the value of this member benefit.

What Is The MSCI Chapter Scholarship Program?

Through more than 30 chapters, MSCI’s Chapter Scholarship Program offers aid to the children of employees of MSCI member companies who attend accredited institutions (colleges, universities, trade schools, and technical schools) in the United States and Canada.

Abby Kutchma is one of the thousands of students who have benefited from our community’s commitment to supporting metals families. A Pittsburgh Chapter scholarship recipient, Kutchma graduated from Gannon University this year after completing a full-time clinical rotation as a physician’s assistant in Erie, Penn.

“As I pursue my path toward becoming a physician assistant, this scholarship represents more than financial support — it is a reminder of the importance of dedication, service, and leadership within a profession,” Kutchma said. “Just as MSCI supports and strengthens the communities and industries it serves, I hope to make a meaningful impact through compassionate patient care, teamwork, and service to others throughout my medical career.”

How MSCI’s Chapter Scholarship Program Strengthens The Metals Industry

“I have great respect for the work MSCI does in supporting the metals industry and investing in the future of students and young professionals,” Kutchma said. “Through education, leadership, workforce development, and community involvement, MSCI helps strengthen an industry that plays a vital role in building and supporting our everyday lives. It is inspiring to see an organization so committed not only to industry excellence, but also to creating opportunities for future generations.”

How can your student earn a scholarship like Abby’s?

Any student who has been accepted to a two- or four-year institution of higher learning, a graduate program, or a trade or vocational program — and whose parent works at an MSCI member company in good standing — is eligible to apply for an MSCI Chapter scholarship. Students currently enrolled in college may also apply, provided they meet the established selection criteria.

MSCI Chapters are currently finishing reviews of applications received this spring. Applications for 2027 will open on Jan. 1, 2027. Stay tuned to our scholarship page for information.
