President Trump Reinstates Section 232 Tariffs For Argentina, Brazil
President Donald Trump announced Monday that the United States will reinstate Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum from Argentina and Brazil. The president said his decision was due to the fact that the two countries were engaging in currency manipulation, to the detriment of U.S. farmers.
At press time, leaders of the two nations had not yet reacted to the news. Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro said he would talk to his economy minister before making a statement.
Next week’s Connecting the Dots will have additional information on the implications of this decision.
