United States Makes Final Decision Regarding Collated Steel Staples from China

On Tuesday, May 26, the U.S. Department of Commerce set final anti-dumping duty rates ranging from 96.15 percent to 122.55 percent on imports of collated steel staples from China. The department also set countervailing duty rates ranging from 12.32 percent to 192.64 percent on the steel staples.

The U.S. International Trade Commission is scheduled to vote by July 6 on whether to give final approval to the duties. If the ITC’s final determination is affirmative, Commerce will issue AD and CVD orders. If the ITC’s determination is negative, the investigation will be terminated.

The United States imported an estimated $88.8 million of the staples from China in 2018.
